THE CLEARING · Original companion artwork

Every useful thing starts somewhere. A piece of wood. An experiment. A path beyond the trees.

What can I make?

01 / A field guide to the game

Begin with a flame.
Build something worth keeping.

One Flame Remains connects survival, crafting, exploration and a growing community around one shared camp. Play at your own pace, but prepare carefully: the fire keeps burning when you close the app.

The base game starts and saves on your device, with no account or server required. This guide describes the playable prototype, rather than promising systems that have not been built.

Guide for app 0.4.2 · Android build 9
All recipes, costs and timings are prototype balance and may change.

  1. 01

    Keep it going

Gather wood and feed the flame. Stored wood and fuel already burning are two different things.

  2. 02

    Make a home

Welcome a companion. Prepare your camp and decide which work matters most.

  3. 03

    Try an idea

Combine materials, discover useful results and arrange ingredients into equipment.

  4. 04

    Step beyond the light

Pack for a journey, follow the forest paths and bring your finds home.

04 / Before you head out

A few good
questions.

Can I play without internet or an account?

Yes. A fresh installed base game starts and saves offline on the device. Accounts and cloud sync are future services. This companion website is separate from your game save.

Does closing the game pause the fire?

No. Elapsed time is reconciled when the app or widget is used. Prepare fuel and, once available, a sensible stock and worker assignment before an absence. An old widget display is an estimate, not a guarantee.

Can I make a weapon? Does it deal damage yet?

The current prototype includes craftable, equippable gear. Open the wiki, enable spoilers and use the Equipment planner to see exact patterns and material requirements. Combat and equipment encounter effects have not been implemented, so the guide gives no damage statistics.

What survives a new run?

Run resources, gear, buildings, discoveries and forest changes start fresh. Device preferences and acknowledged first-visit explanations remain. The Help control can replay an explanation. The website does not sync or restore progress.

Is the game ready for a public download?

The Android prototype is in development. App 0.4.2, Android build 9, is the reference for this guide. Public store distribution and final balance are still ahead; there is no public download offered here.

Where are maps, rankings and suggestions?

These are planned companion features. Seed and location maps need a shared tested generator. Rankings need fair scoring and verification rules. Public feedback and polls need moderation, abuse controls and privacy decisions. They are not live services on this site.

A little further down the path

The world is still taking shape.

The reference comes first. Broader exploration, encounters and community services remain part of the developing vision. This site will distinguish what you can do today from what is still being built.
